thealderson lung/chest phantom extends from the neck tobelow thediaphragm. it is molded about an rsd “superhuman maleskeleton,corresponding to the external body size of a patient, 5'9(175 cm)tall and weighing 162 lbs. (73.5 kg). rsd materials areequivalentto natural bone and soft-tissues. animal lungs areselected tomatch the size of an adult male. lungs are fixed in theinflatedstate and are molded to conform to the pleural cavities ofthephantom. the pulmonary arteries are injected withablood-equivalent plastic.
