the photographic replicas of two sets of photographs depicting single needle and doubleneedle seams are used to visually evaluate the smoothness appearance of seams in fabrics after repeated home laundering. aatcc test method 88b, smoothness of seams in fabrics afterrepeated home laundering outlines the laundering procedures and the evaluation procedures to be used. the method can be used on any washable fabric from any type of construction such as woven, knitor nonwovens. each of the photographic replicas (single needle and double needle) shows seam smoothness representing grades 1 to 5 with grade 5 being equivalent to the best level of seam appearanceand grade 1 a very poor level of seam smoothness.
